Description:

This course addresses the construction and interpretation of corporate financial statements. By the end of the course, you will have a basic understanding of these reports and the ability to analyze these reports for decision making.  To meet these objectives, you will develop an understanding of how financial statements are prepared, the key concepts that underlie accounting practices, and the way in which accounting data is sensitive to variations in estimates, methods and manipulation.  The course divides naturally into two related parts.  The first introduces the accounting model, including the concepts, definitions, and relationships required for a fundamental understanding of the process that produces the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.  The second part considers in more detail measurement and disclosure issues that are associated with assets and equities.  (4/10 - LN)
